1. Pedroia the destroya has never done steroids.
2. It's interesting that no recent or current Red Sox players have been named but the Yankee team seems to be full of juicers.
3. I hope someone signs Manny.
4. Should be interesting to see if Clemens or Bonds go to jail.
5. A-Rod will probably make the Hall of Fame.

1. I completely agree w/ you.

2. Ya that is quite an interesting point. I noticed that the second the Mitchell Report came out.

3. It would be cool if Manny signed with the Cards as there have been a few rumors. If him and Pujols could work something out, they could carry that team right to the postseason.

4. I don't think they will go to jail. Government is too corrupt. Even O.J. didn't go to jail until just recently, and it wasn't even for murder. Steroids and lying to a grand jury and tax evasion is nothing compared to that.

5. As i said in my steroid thread, ANYBODY that has done steroids should be out of the game and not in the Hall of Fame! I don't care if they were all of my favorite players. At that point i would completely lose respect for them and would want them out of the game. Cheaters should not be in the hall of fame no matter how popular you are.

What are everybody's thought on the World Baseball Classic?

I think it's a fantastic idea. The first one was a great success, and I can't wait to watch this year!

I don't know about the WBC. It has a lot of potential considering it's not only the only tournament of countries a la the World Cup, but it's the only tournament aside from the MLB season that any of them play. It just doesn't have much prestige right now because it's brand new, and you get guys like Johan Santana, the hands-down best pitcher over the past 4 seasons on MLB, sitting out because he doesn't want to be distracted or get injured. But maybe that will change over time.

I hope it does change over time because i really think it is good for the game of baseball and spreading it across the world. it will never reach the same heights as soccer/football, but when Japan goes on and wins the WBC over teams like the Dominican Republic (a baseball breeding ground), it shows kids around the world that they can make their country proud by doing something that their country is not necessarily known for.

for instance, japan isn't known for the Japan League as far as producing ridiculous talent (granted there has been dice-k, okajima, etc.) but more for sending washed up american talent over there to try and save their careers.

so that's why i like the WBC, and i hope that it continues to grow, and i hope that MLB managers don't prevent their stars from playing it.

Was it just me, or was A-Rod's news conference more of a photo shoot? That was so strange, and of course his answers were terrible. I like Big Papi's idea personally: First Offense = 1 year ban. Fantastic idea!!

Comparing it to English football...Rio Ferdinand missed his drug test by a few hours, tested negative, and still was suspended for an entire season! ZERO TOLERANCE in football, and baseball needs to follow suit.

BREAKING NEWS! Ken Griffey, Jr. is back with the Mariners!! I'm pumped for this! The Mariners are terrible, but Griffey should end his career where he was so dominant for so many years!

Also, what does anybody think about the Phillies repeating? I think they will definitely be there in October. Picking up Raul Ibanez and getting rid of Pat Burrell was a fantastic move. They have all the depth to make it back, but we'll have to see if they rest of the NL East makes sure that they won't be playing come October.

I can't see them winning the East this year. The Mets will win it I think, and we'll see if Philly gets the wild card. And no, I don't see them making the WS, but from this point in time it's all guesswork considering the MLB season is a marathon moreso than any other sport. And even as much as I think NYM is the best NL team, we should probably hold our NL predictions back until we know where Planet Manny is going.

Who do you think Manny will sign with? Joe Torre is saying that he will be back in a Dodgers uniform soon enough and rumor has it that the talks between LA and Boras/Ramirez are heating up. As long as he stays in the NL I'm cool with that.

Thoughts?

Boras's clients could end up absolutely anywhere no matter what the media says even a day previous to the signing. Right now, the three teams he's been linked most strongly to are, in this order: LAD, SF, STL. Granted, not many others can afford Manny/Boras's asking price, but anyone can swoop in any day; it's just guesswork.

So i was flipping through my MLB Preview issue of Sports Illustrated today...and i saw that they had chosen the Mets to win the World Series. I'm sure the Mets will make the playoffs this year cuz their team is stacked, but they couldn't even close out the division or wild card the last two years with massive leads going into the final week. World Series champs? I think not.

I'm thinking the World Series will see the Phillies back in it again for the NL, and for the AL i will be extremely biased and say the Red Sox.

The only reason i'm saying the Red Sox is because i want to see their frugal offseason spending pay off more than the ridiculous spending done by the Yankees. hahaha

On a sad note. for any of you who haven't heard...last night after making his major league debut for the Angels and pitching a fantastic game, Angels' rookie Nick Adenhart was killed by a drunk driver after the game. He was only 22-years-old.

He had an extremely bright future and it sickens me to have to hear such terrible stories. his dad had flown out to watch him pitch his first major league game and now he has to fly back home knowing that he will never see his boy again. terrible news.

Yes it was fantastic! If you saw the replay...since he was running so fast he actually tripped when he was going into his slide, and he ended up doing a faceplant at home plate hahaha, but it was so AWESOME!!!

I'm lovin Jacoby right now. The baserunning and fielding take care of themselves, but when he's hitting too he's one of the most valuable players on the team.
