UEFA Cup
Okay, people have discussed possible UEFA Cup winners, but now I'm calling everyone out to put it all on the line and pick a single winner. It's such a crapshoot at this point to pick a winner, with 32 teams left, but what the heck?
Hamburg SV. I'm not just saying that because they happen to be #1 in Bundesliga, but I watched about a half hour of one of their games recently (UEFA Cup a few days ago I think), and they looked very good.

Re: UEFA Cup
AC Milan. They shouldn't be in the UEFA Cup. They are a Champions League squad, so I don't see how they won't win it, and I will be very disappointed in them if they fail to bring home the Cup!

I second that

Re: UEFA Cup
Bah! AC Milan will NOT win the UEFA Cup. They haven't impressed me all year, and I've watched a handful of their games in Serie A and UEFA. Thank God for Pato, otherwise they'd be so far out of the title race...

Re: UEFA Cup
I can't believe my pick AC Milan got knocked out. Big win for Shakhtar...too bad for Tottenham. Big win for Manchester City! Too bad for Aston Villa, but the league title is more important. Awesome win for Ajax, that was a great 2nd leg to watch!
Re: UEFA Cup
I'm going to be smug and say I CAN belive Milan were knocked out, see my previous post for details . But credit Bremen for a great game, and a great game in the 1st leg too. I'm going to root not only for my pick, Hamburg, but also for Manchester City because I'd like to see the club's patience with Hughes be rewarded.

Re: UEFA Cup
i agree with you on man city. i would really like to see them be successful at something this season.
Re: UEFA Cup
I'm going to go with Sporting de Braga. Why not? They have a very talented team. The thing is, you never know who's going to show up.

Re: UEFA Cup
ok haha. I was actually going to change my pick to Ajax as well. You can say there is a lot of bias there, but I don't see anybody else that will do much damage.
With that said, after this comment gets posted, Ajax will probably be eliminated in the next round, so maybe i should change my pick so ajax doesn't get the proverbial boot. hahaha

Re: UEFA Cup
You appear to have the "commentators curse" Taylor, pick someone else, then when Ajaz do win, say "i said them first"

Re: UEFA Cup

Ajaz flows quite nicely, maybe we should make the trek over to holland and start that team. they'll be contenders in no time! haha

Here's the draw for the last 16
Werder Bremen v St Etienne
CSKA Moscow v Shakhtar Donetsk
Udinese v Zenit St Petersburg
Paris St Germain v Braga
Dynamo Kiev v Metalist Kharkiv
Manchester City v AaB Aalborg
Olympique Marseille v Ajax Amsterdam
Hamburg SV v Galatasaray

Any thoughts?
I'll be pulling for Braga. I think they've got a winnable draw against PSG. It'll be tough but winnable.

i don't know much about udinese this year, but i'm a little surprised they took a 2-0 lead over zenit. very impressed w/ city! way to go Premier League!

Re: UEFA Cup
City look like a real force. I'm slowly backing them to win the whole thing. Robinho is outrageous.
