Confederations Cup Empty Confederations Cup

Post by Brian Sun Jun 21, 2009 4:34 pm

Most amazing finish to Group B today. USA began the day at the bottom of the group, but beat Egypt 3-0. Coupled with Italy's 3-0 loss to Brazil, and the USA are through to the semis!

USA v Spain and Brazil v South Africa in the semifinals. Looks like a Spain v Brazil final now.

"Craig: Sir William, where are you going?
William: We have beaten the English, but they'll come back because you won't stand together.
Craig: Well what will you do?
William: I will invade England and defeat the English on their own ground.
Craig: Invade? That's impossible.
William: Why? Why is that impossible? You're so concerned with squabbling for the scraps from Longshank's table that you've missed your God given right to something better. There is a difference between us. You think the people of this country exist to provide you with position. I think your position exists to provide those people with FREEDOM. And I go to make sure that they have it."

All i gotta say is that today is USA v. Spain, and i will be watching every second of the game! GO USA!!! I'm really not expecting too much out of the US, but it would be nice if they gave us all something to cheer about today.

Fantastic first half for the US!!! All they have to do is keep up the intensity and don't let their box get crowded like it got during the latter minutes of the half and they will be looking golden!!

"our boys really proved all those doubters (myself included) wrong!!"
--Taylor

You'll have to do better than that! Go back and read the posts in this thread you made about the game. I'll reproduce a few here so you don't have to do the looking:

1. "well that's great and all pini but the US will not beat Spain...they are waaaaay too dominant...its gonna b a great spain/brazil final"

2. "yep...all the big guns for spain will score...US has NOOOOOOO chance"

Hahahah. It's extra-funny because it looks like I embellished what you said but they're direct quotes, capital letters included.

Beg for forgiveness!! santa

hahahaha no problem pini...i'm aware of what i said...i don't know if they have enough to win in the final but at least they proved us wrong for one match...we will just have to see what the final brings for us after tomorrow's semi final.

The thing that makes me nervous about the final is Michael Bradley being suspended. I can't believe he got a straight red for that, by the way.

that straight red was absurd...thats 2 straight reds for the US in this tournament and 3 sending offs in our 4 matches.

it shouldve been a yellow no doubt, but i don't think 2 straight red cards happened in the Prem all season haha.

I only saw the last 10 mins, the yellow one of the spaniards got seemed very harsh just outside the USA area, that guy made a right meal of it lol Other than that all the big boys were out for Spain, so looks like thye may be going back to their old ways of inconsistency! Let's hope so for the world cup, would make it far more interesting!!! Very Happy

That's the thing Andy...Spain was constantly attacking. Tim Howard was an absolute machine in the back. He made some AMAZING saves on several occasions that saved the day for us. The US just wanted it more and there were many stretches throughout the game where they were just outplaying the #1 team in the world. It was just an amazing match to watch!

Howard's a top keeper imo, i rate him as one of the best in the premier league, didn't watch the match though so can't really comment on that, there's hope for a lot of teams come out of that result though!!

ya Howard is way up there imo as one of the top premier league keepers. he covers the net beautifully and he seems to be a great leader from the back. now we can only hope that he puts in a performance on sunday like he did yesterday!
