UEFA Super Cup Empty UEFA Super Cup

Post by Brian on Thu Aug 21, 2008 11:07 am

Manchester United take on Zenit St. Petersburg a week from tomorrow (Friday) in the UEFA Cup. This match is following United's match against Portsmouth on Monday.

I don't understand why the Premier League moved United's weekend match to Monday before they have a Friday match. It doesn't make any sense.

I wouldn't expect anything else but an United win from that one.

Also yeh the switch of dates makes little sense, maybe they want to give Zenit more of a chance by letting United have less rest from their game??

I'm afraid there's a chance of that happening, and I don't want it to. One good tournament (Euro 2008) and a good Super Cup doesn't make a player United quality.

Agreed Brian, but he also had a great UFEA cup, and whenever i've seen him play he has just been sensational.

I agree with atomic_rob, whenever i've seen him he's been the best player on the park. The only bad game was the one against Spain in the Euros, but he was marked out of the game by a much superior Spanish team, i can't see that occurring too much in the Prem.

I think his sort of game would be ideal for the Prem.
Especially Tottenham.
With it been such a fast tempo game, a moment of magic can make a game.

Well, it looks like Arshavin won't even feature in this match. He's not in the Zenit team for their league match this weekend.

And, he isn't even an out and out striker. I don't see how Spurs view him as a replacement for Berba.

Match starting in a few minutes. Hopefully I'll be back on in a few hours after United wrap up a second trophy only weeks into the season.

Horrible display from United. But yes, Scholesy's volley was honestly breathtaking. Precision at its finest.
