Manchester United v Newcastle
Extremely frustrating match. This match cemented the fact that we (United) need more options up front. Campbell was good, but wasn't clinical enough when he was handed his golden opportunity. United strikers need to be like Ruud was and be able to finish the sole chance that they get - as seen today, another one may not come.
I'm sure the cries of United being past it are going to starting raining in.

First of all, I'll say up front that I did not see the game (had work). But I dont know if we should judge United too much with Tevez and Ronaldo out. At least they drew. Not the end of the world.

Also keep in mind that Tevez, Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson, Hargreaves, and Berbatov were all missing.
Re: Manchester United v Newcastle
As much as I enjoyed watching United drop points, this just brings back bad memories of last season. And its not surprising to see that a player who is not contracted to United or their opponent isn't playing in the game.

You mean Berby? He's all ours.
And, we traditionally drop points on the first day of the season. 0-0 to Reading at home last year. The treble is on.

Can't just rely on a few players though Brian.
Depth is something which is needed in this league, more than anything. I think thats were Chelsea have improved this year.
United were luck with injuries and Ronaldo was fit all season long, were as Chelsea had African Nations to worry about.

Re: Manchester United v Newcastle
Yes, teams certainly need to rely on depth, but if you took the equivalent of Nani, Ronaldo, Anderson, Hargreaves, Saha, and Tevez out of ANY side in the WORLD then they'd struggle.
Re: Manchester United v Newcastle
I agree, when United lost their "star" players they seem a very average squad, Chelsea on the other hand have great depth, for me i think it's a Chelsea season this one. Or it could be a Rovers season...........ha i'll wake up in a minute!!
