Re: Who's going down?
Brian keeps trying to tell me different, but I really think that Newcastle and Boro will be going down with West Brom. I know that they are too good to be in the Championship next season, but they have been playing terribly, so I'm going to pick two of the bigger clubs to go down.
I know it wasn't your idea Blackburnbob, but great poll! We need more of these throughout the forum!

Re: Who's going down?
I went with...Hull and Sunderland. Shocking, I know, but I still can't get over the fact that Boro and Newcastle can go down. Look at their squads!
Who'll be relegated
I really can't see where Hull are going to gain another point, and now they have lost their inspirational skipper for two games. Having said that they have been a breath of fresh air. They seem to be really running out of steam at the moment. I believe they will go down.
As for Boro. I agree, they have some exciting players, but for whatever reason they haven't really produced, and they've been in a downward spiral
for what seems like an age. It will be interesting to see how the Hull victory
effects them.
Sunderland having looked reltively safe, have also dropped into the danger zone, but I feel they have sufficient ability to get out of it. Crucially they have games against some of the teams in and around them.
Now to my own team Newcastle, whose back four have taken some incredible stick, but who have really played well individually and collectively for the majority of the season. The problem has ben the cover from the midfield, who have often, very often left them exposed. Added to that is the total reliance on wide men to create opportunities for the front men, and they simply haven't. I feel Newcastle have the firepower to get out of this situation. The crucial games are the home games against Pompey, Boro and Fulham. Two wins in those three games may keep us up, and the Boro game is huge. Whoever the loser is in that game will be relegated. It appears Shearer is about to change the formation to 3-4-3. Last season at the same stage, Keegan did the same and it saved us. Here's praying it does this time!

Re: Who's going down?
Middlesbrough and Newcastle. Doesn't matter how big the clubs are, look at the points. And Newcastle has not had any sort of injection of good form that tends to accompany a new manager coming in, so it's not looking good for them.

If Newcastle don't get a result against Tottenham this weekend, they must be down.

Re: Who's going down?
Defeat at Spurs this weekend won't mean a thing. The home games to come against Portsmouth, Boro and Fulham are the crucial games. Hull have a horrific run in, and I maintain if we don't pick up another point away, but take six points from two of the three home games, we will finish above both Boro and Hull.
Don't be surprised if we get a result at Spurs, as we are a bit of a bogey side to them. Newcastle have taken three points in the last six games. Last time Spurs were victorious was New Years Day 2005.
Lets face it lads I've got to continue to be a little optimistic whilst escape is possible. Optimistic not deluded.

Re: Who's going down?
If either Newcastle or Middlesbrough win this weekend then i see the winner staying up. Hull i don't think could win a match to save their lives right now. Having said that neither 'borough nor Newc look like they could either. I'm putting my money on Middlesbrough just because they looked slightly better against Man U then Newcastle did against 'Pool. I'd love West Brom to stay up though!

I'm praying we are safe, our last game is West Brom, so i think we can just scrape through, aslo helps Boro and Newcastle look rubbish right now, we actually played quite well against Wigan

Re: Who's going down?
You guys are safe blackburnbob...nothing to worry about...west brom...boro...and newcastle will drop...although hull may (and probably will) replace one of them
Re: Who's going down?
I think we are just lucky having West Brom at the end, hopefully their fate will have been sealed and they will have given up and let us romp home to safety, or more likely thye will be peaved and want to go out with a bang and demolish us and let us drop with them lol

Re: Who's going down?
Nah Blackburn won't have any troubles staying up. It's between Hull, 'Boro and Newcastle - take your pick from those. They all deserve to go down in my opinion.

Re: Who's going down?
Sat here looking at Ceefax and thinking,
Duff must be crying in his beer. Are they saying that had that not happened then another would have gone down instead?
Some were asking on the day how big Sam must be feeling now...pretty good I would imagine as he settles in the deck chair lol
Awe...behave Bob

Re: Who's going down?
i said that i thought both newcastle and boro would go down and nobody believed me that 2 big clubs would go down! well the fat lady has sung...and now im having the last laugh bahahaha! i'm glad they both went down because that just proves that the big clubs can take a hit too. you are never to big to take the fall and they have both proven this.
Re: Who's going down?
It was a weird season all round!
We escaped relegation by the skin of our teeth.
Even the top six was the same.
My top six next season will be:
Man City:
Man United:
Arsenal:
Liverpool:
Chelsea:
Fulham:
Whats everyone think?
Kalloon has ordered Mark Hughes to be in 6th position come may 2010 so on that I place him first as he will need to work a major miracle...hahaahah

Re: Who's going down?
no matter how much he spends during summer, i still don't see a top 6 side, was proved in january you can buy big but they need to gel for a season at least first. If he does get top 6 he will be very lucky, i just think MH is out of his depth at city with all the cash going around, he did so well with us because he used his head and bought cheap unknowns who turned out very well, now he doesn't need to think, just go out and buy whoever you want.

Re: Who's going down?
Thats why Bob,
He is after various PL players this time, he knows he has been told whats what by Kalloon.
He is after Beckham, Trevez, Adebayer etc...anyone who can do the job in fact...
Back page for us at telegraph is: Bojan, has confirmed he will not be at Blackburn. lolol he is a Barcelona forward. Bit ambitious of Sam. Apparently, they wanted to loan him out and Sam enquired about him.

Re: Who's going down?
I would like to see at least Crouch come in if Santa does go, which is almost 99% certain. Or Davies. We definately need strengthening, midfield we are quite weak, Once Samba returns to centre back our defense is pretty good on paper with Nelsen, Warnock and Emerton at right back too. Pedersen is alright down the left, but the rest of midfield is questionable, don't get me wrong Dunny when he has a good game can be a handful, but it seems to be very rare nowadays, if we had Benni and Crouch/Davies upfront that would be nice. Just get us a midfield Sam!!!
