Top four predictions
What are your predictions for the top four this year? Here's mine:
That's right - my bold prediction for the season is that Tottenham replaces the Arse in the top four.
- Manchester United
- Chelsea
- Liverpool
- Tottenham

Re: Top four predictions
I agree that Tottenham will have a good season but I still say Arsenal finishes in the top 4. I'm going with what is probably the popular choice for top 4 but nevertheless...
1. Man U
2. Chelsea
3. Liverpool
4. Arsenal

Re: Top four predictions
What do you think the gap will be between the big four? For instance, do you think there'll be a gap between United-Chelsea and Liverpool-Arsenal or will Arsenal be farther off the pace than everyone else?
Re: Top four predictions
The only team from which we know what to expect is United, as far as I'm concerned, because Chelsea are a thoroughly altered team, having a brand new-to-the-Prem creative midfielder and manager, among other changes. Liverpool has a brand new striker as well, with a very good history of scoring, and the quest for Barry is not completely closed either as far as I know. Arsenal also have lost a couple players, and Tottenham have made huge splashes and are currently linked to Arshavin AND David Villa (according to ESPN anyway), so I'm becoming less and less confident of my top 4 predictions every day, and anything can happen really. Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea could each be an incredible success but then again their new players could have a very hard time adjusting to the league and flop, like Shevchenko did, old age aside.

Re: Top four predictions
John, fantastic post. Post of the day in my eyes.
Anyone else willing to put their argument into the hat in this discussion?

Re: Top four predictions
I think the top 4 will slowly become a top 5, ie it will change every year between the "top 4" and Spurs. Surely can only be good for the game??
this season:
1. Manchester United
2. Arsenal
3. Chelsea
4. Tottenham

Re: Top four predictions
The only surprise i can see really is Arsenal. People seem to be righting them off even though they have brought in some quality players, Nasri for example. Also Walcott was showing huge potential last season. Rosicky and Eduardo will be missed though but when they come back will only add to their strength.
Liverpool have made, as usual, poor signings, only good one being Keane, even though i can't see where he'll feature, certainly won't play every game imo.

Re: Top four predictions
Yeh way to much for Keane, money could have been spent on trying to lure Silva to prem, who is definitely worth 20 mill
I thought Berba was rumoured at around 28 mill though?

Re: Top four predictions
I've heard 20.
Even so, would you say there is only an 8 million distance between Keane and Berbatov?
I would say its alot more.

Re: Top four predictions
I think the amount going round was 28 mill but i bet it come's down, spurs will have a sulky Berbatov all year not playing well at all, his value will drop faster than a hooker's pant's after this season. They would do well to take the 20 mill if that's what's being offered.

Re: Top four predictions
I really wouldnt, i'm not Berbatovs biggest fan. He scored same amount as Keane last season and he would have scored a hell of a lot less if it wasnt for Keane being there. He's too lazy in my opinion.. wouldnt want him to go to Liverpool that is

Re: Top four predictions
i don't see arsenal getting it done...they've been rather pathetic all year...a couple good wins but they are losing games they should be winning (cough cough stoke)
Re: Top four predictions
I seem to remember Arsenal being in a similar position to this a few seasons back. That times it was Spurs who were clinging onto the top 4. The problem is though, Aston Villa do not have the squad to cope with the Premiership and a run in the UEFA cup. They're defence showed signs of cracks even against Gillingham in the FA Cup. Shorey is not cut out to be a Premiership full back, and Reo-Coker being put at right back kinda shows how much their squad is being stretched already. I expect Arsenal to just sneak back into 4th place in the last few weeks of the season.

Re: Top four predictions
I'd agree with you if Fabregas was healthy, but I just don't see who will step it up for Arsenal. Gallas is also out, so the spine of their play is injured.
But then again, I will do anything to convince myself that Arsenal won't be in the CL next year.

1. Liverpool
2. Man United

4. Aston Villa
There seems to be a sort of inevitability in a lot of people's minds that Liverpool will slip, largely due to inconsistent play despite eeking out points. But I just don't see it that way (even though I agree their play hasn't been consistent), and I'm calling a Liverpool 1st place finish.
