USA 1-0 Japan
The US is off to a great start in a very difficult group. I think they have enough to advance from the group...let's just hope they don't face Argentina in the next round.

Yep, as I said in my post about ARG-CIV, I did wake up at 5am to see this game streamed live online (in very high quality) from NBCOlympics.com. Japan looked much better than I expected, and were the more aggressive team in the 1st half by far...the US didn't have much meaningful possession until the goal very early in the 2nd half. This game overall actually made me a bit nervous about the US's chances because they were not dominant whatsoever. But each coming game is a different game, so it's good to get the 3 points against a team they really had to beat.

Yeah, and this game was an ABSOLUTE must-win. On paper it was the only easy game in our group, and the only game where we expected three points. If we failed there, we'd be done. Now we need to get at least 1 draw and 1 win.
