Re: Chelsea banned from buying til 2011
Chelsea have confirmed they are to fight FIFA's ban on new signings by launching "the strongest possible appeal".
FIFA banned Chelsea from registering any new players for the next two transfer windows after the Blues were found guilty of inducing 18-year-old Gael Kakuta to breach his contract with Lens.
A club statement read: "Chelsea will mount the strongest appeal possible following the decision of FIFA's Dispute Resolution Chamber over Gael Kakuta.
"The sanctions are without precedent to this level and totally disproportionate to the alleged offence and the financial penalty imposed."

I'm sure that the ban will be overturned, which is unfortunate because chelski should get what they deserve, but i would love to see it upheld!!

I couldn't agree more with forum member Alfred's comment on the article on the main page:
Alfred wrote:I’m completely against this. Not only are they limiting the under 18s potential but they’re doing something much worse, limiting their standard of living. If you’re a poor family in South America, Eastern Europe, or Africa your kid’s football skills might be the only thing making a difference between living in poverty and living in the developed world. I don’t think FIFA has the right to take that chance from them.

The rules are put in place.
Teams are ignoring these rules.
Fifa are punishing offending parties.
End of matter.

ya thats pretty interesting...we'll just have to see how all of this craziness plays out!
Re: Chelsea banned from buying til 2011
Well at least it shows consistency. Everyone was moaning the other week when Eduardo was singled out for a ban because of a dive. If players like Ronaldo, Gerrard etc all got banned similarly thye'd be out of action for years! At least in this instance everyone (albeit English sides) are being looked at, not just one.
